The staff at Port Caddo Baptist Church is here for you.
Dr. Robert Prothro
Robert and Kay came to Port Caddo Baptist Church January 28, 2007.
“In all our years of ministry, Port Caddo is the finest group of people Kay and I have ever had the honor of serving. They are caring, friendly, and go beyond the call when called upon. This church put the “fun” in ministry.”
Dr. Prothro has an earned Doctor of Ministry degree from Covington Theological Seminary and was ordained August 1976. Kay is employed at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall, Texas.
Debbie and then husband, Kyle Roberts joined Port Caddo in September 1991. She became Church/Financial Secretary October 4, 1994. Debbie is blessed with two children: Erik Roberts and wife Shannon and Alesa Granberry and husband Matt. Debbie has four grandsons: Ryan, Blake, Hunter and Colin. Kyle went to be with the Lord in August of 2005. Debbie has been married to Robert Long since August 11, 2007. Debbie has been church secretary here for 20 years as of October 4, 2014.
"God blessed my family when He led us to Port Caddo in 1991. We had no idea all the things we would have to go through at that time. This loving church family helped us survive those times and come through on the other side, by showing us God's love in action. You will not find a more loving, giving church anywhere! If you need someone to stand in the gap for you, this is the place."
Mindy Kyle earned her Bachelors in Music Education from East Texas Baptist University and is currently working on her Masters in Music at Texas A&M University in Commerce. She first visited Port Caddo Baptist Church in the Fall of 2011, but became an official member the following year when she was baptized in the church.
"I mess up a lot, and I am by no means perfect, but the people of this church still love me, encourage me, and pick me back up when I fall down. I'm so grateful they have chosen me to be their Music Minister and hope I can give back through worship what they have given me with their unrelenting love."
Minister of Education
Zachary Frazier served as the Director of Young Adult Ministry here at Port Caddo Baptist Church from January of 2011 until February of 2015. Since then he has taken on the role of Minister of Education at our church, providing support to our Sunday morning Bible Study classes and facilitating Biblical learning in other ways as well.
He and his wife Mia joined this congregation shortly after they were married in January of 2011. He has his B.A. and M.A. in Religion from East Texas Baptist University. He spends his free time reading, writing, and playing video games. However, his real passion is helping others learn to understand the Bible better and see them grow as disciples of Christ.
Maudie Gene Long Kay has been around Port Caddo Baptist Church since her beginning, having been enrolled in Cradle Roll shortly after her birth. When she was about 8 or 9 years old, someone asked her if she "wanted to go down the aisle" during a revival meeting and join the church. She did that and considered herself a Christian or being saved until she realized, at the age of 18, that she had not really asked Jesus into her heart and given Him control of her life. Doing that in her bed at home that night she knows for sure that she is one of God's children. Gene was elected church pianist in 1957 and has served in that capacity for most of the years since....more than 50 years. Gene's goal as church pianist has always been to 'lead the people to a deep worship of the Lord and to magnify His Word through music. "The Longer I Serve HIM the Sweeter He Grows"
